From the moment you arrive at the park, the entire ride is at altitudes of 3,700 to 4,150 meters. At such altitudes located near the equator, an endemic ecosystem phenomenon (unique for a specific place in the world) called “Páramo” is created. The system is characterized by high humidity accompanied by clouds during most of the day and it can even rain in rainy periods. During dry periods there can also be foggy days, but the route has many points where the chances are very good for there to be no clouds, and even days of ample visibility and impressive views throughout the route.
Most of the year at these altitudes there are clouds for most of the day and times with the best chances for volcanic observations and beautiful views, which are usually early in the morning and towards sunset. For this reason the jeeps, guide and driver are at your disposal from 05:00 am to 08:00 pm. Arrival back to Manizales.
In addition to a visit to the "Páramo" ecosystem and the Sulfur Canyon, the main objective of the trip is to obtain an observation of the activity of the volcano and a visit to the hot springs.

It is recommended to wait in the canyon area or in the cabin at the entrance gate to the springs.
A very low percentage of hikers may find a day where no volcano is seen (either early in the morning or after waiting until sunset), the springs are not hot. As mentioned, the recommendation is to stay and wait for the weather to clear up, so as not to succumb to the cold, the weather can change up to 10 times during the day. You can warm up in the fireplace at one of our stopping points and wait until sunset.
